update

Lucinda guest blogging here, I thought I'd give you all an update. Since the last post Lucie has declined pretty significantly. Fortunately she is in no pain, and at the moment resting comfortably. Over the last 48 hours she has gotten increasingly disoriented, confused and agitated. Last night was a tough night for sleeping because she was moving around and sitting up quite often, and talking at regular intervals.
The hospice nurse put her on a new drug regimen that seems to have helped with the restlessness, and she got a massage from a hospice volunteer which I think she enjoyed. There was even an impromptu singing session with Mary, myself and the hospice nurse, and Lucie sang along.
She still has moments of clarity, and smiles when you walk into the room. Sometimes she'll be sleeping and have a huge, beautiful smile on her face, so I think she's having good dreams.
As always, thanks to everyone for your love, care and support. I'll keep you posted.

Cinda, thank you for this. my heart goes out to you and Jerry and your brother. Your mom is so delightful. I know that part of the reason she has a smile on her face is because of the tender loving care she has been receiving. My best, Adrienne

I was so looking forward to Lucie's book and to her becoming the poster child for pancreatic cancer.

I can't convey how much I've enjoyed spending time here.

The very warmest wishes and hugs to you all. Paula x

Lucinda-
Your mom was so kind and supportive when my mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in December and when she passed away in June. Lucie made a point of telling me how important it was to take care of the caregivers, too. (Chocolate, yarn and single-malt scotch were mentioned). I will be thinking of you.

There is someone here in my town that reminds me of what I think Lucie must be like - she even looks like her! - and I spent time with her yesterday, unexpectedly. It made me very happy, and I thought about Lucie and what's happening with her - and with you all - a lot yesterday. I don't know what else to say but that her personality shows so much here, and it's been such a wonderful thing to get to 'know' her via this blog, and her vivid descriptions of her life and children are so wonderful to read, and at the same time make me feel as if I know all of you, and I wish so much that there was some way I could help in this difficult, difficult time.

I'm thinking about all of you, sending positive light your way. I'm thinking more of Lucie's family as Lucie's body does the final work of letting go. It's scary to be witness to these days and I wish you all mental health and clarity and peace. -- Debbie (Max's friend)

Thanks Cinda. Lucie, Jerry and all of you are on our minds thru-out the day. We send our love. Our family has such fantastic memories of traveling back there and spending a week in the summers. We are so glad that we have bonded with all of you back there. At this time I like to think of the song: "Tomorrow" from Annie.

Hi,

I got in touch with your mum via ravelry, she was very supportive when my mum was diagnosed with pc (we lost her in january). She's offered alot of support and hope to many people, whilst bravely coping with her own journey. Sending Lucie, you and your family lots of love.
Emma.

Cinda, it's me again. I just read feresaknit's post. I thought it might be a good idea to let the readers know that Lucie DID finish her book! It is an excellent book and I am currently trying to find an agent for it. The name of the book is: Green Bananas:Thirty Months of Life with Pancreatic Cancer. Lucie calls it part how-two and part inspirational memoir. Ironically, she finished the last chapter just as she entered these last weeks. If anyone has ideas for how to get this agented/published, please blog!(FYI-I've queried agents who specialize in this field, and I subscribe to Publisher's Marketplace online.) I'm wondering about hospital publishing offices, non-profits, etc. She wants part of any proceeds to go to Pan-Can.
Here's hoping! Adrienne

My heart goes out to you and your family. I started the group on Ravelry for pancreatic cancer support and got to know your mom through her frequent posts. I lost a loved one, my 46 year old sister in law, 18 months ago to pc. All that I can say at this point is that there is a reason in life for things that happen. We don't know why, but there is a reason.

I am thinking of you,
Rosemary

Cinda. It's Lori Germer Carter. I'm sorry to read your last post. I have fond memories as a child of your mom and dad. I feel like I have gotten to know your Mom as an adult through her blogs. She is not only a wonderful writer but a wonderful person. It is very clear that your Mom and Dad love each other very much. I'm taking from her the following...have a glass of red wine and a piece of chocolate every night. What a wonderful way to celebrate love and life. I'm thinking of you Uncle Jerry and Max. Love your cousin Lori
